Derek Smith, PhD

Derek S. Smith, Ph.D., is a Senior Compensation Consultant with Gallagher's Human Resources and Compensation Consulting practice.

Derek recently served as the national executive director of the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium and as a part-time consultant with Sawgrass Consulting, following more than 15 years in higher education leadership roles at institutions including University of Nevada at Las Vegas, Kansas State University, the University of Missouri System and the University of Pittsburgh.

Derek has a Bachelor degree in History, a Master of Science, a Master of Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Leadership. He has earned professional certifications with the Human Resources Certification Institute (PHR), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP) and the Korn Ferry Leadership Architect.
