The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) — also called forever chemicals — as a major emerging contaminant. Due to their persistence and resistance to degradation, PFAS have caused widespread environmental contamination, resulting in increased regulatory scrutiny and legal liabilities. In this whitepaper, we discuss the concerns related to PFAS contamination and its impact on municipalities.
