As a global organization, we've always known that we have the ability and responsibility to impact the welfare of people in a powerful way. After all, insurance-in its many forms-is essentially a people business, and we want our company to be one that all our people are proud to be a part of and where everyone feels like they belong and are one of the team.
That's why we are committed to partnering with organizations that reflect the diversity of our communities-across race, gender, sexuality, ability and more.

Partnership in Focus: Girl Up
One mission we've stressed is the development and empowerment of young women, especially as it pertains to the professional world. And we do that through Girl Up. Our support of Girl Up, an initiative of the United Nations Foundation, helps young female leaders around the world gain the skills, resources and confidence to make an impact on gender equality.
Girl Up's mission is especially important to us at Gallagher, because we recognize a need for further development of women talent in the insurance industry. Women comprise more than 60% of the insurance industry but hold only 19% of board seats, 11% of named insider officer positions and 12% of top officer positions1. And this trend is especially true with LGBTQ+ women and women of color. Altogether, this points to a set of barriers for women in the professional world.
As a part of our partnership with Girl Up, Gallagher hosted a session at their 2021 Leadership Summit-connecting young women with female leaders at Gallagher to discuss the industry, opportunities, networking, and personal brand in increasingly virtual contexts. And while the event was intended to make a lasting impact on the girls, the Gallagher speakers, too, walked away impacted by the session.
We asked Gallagher's Kelly Lomas, Executive Benefits Consultant, and Keti Mehta, Area Senior Vice President, about their experience at the Girl Up Leadership Summit. Here's what they said.
