In early February, the government announced its intention to increase workplace Covid testing in sectors or industries open during the lockdown period.
Workplace COVID Testing

Part of this update includes workplace Covid testing being offered to businesses with more than 50 employees (down from 250+ employees) in the drive to ensure staff safety, stop the spread of the virus and help reopen the economy.

For businesses and employers with less than 50 employers, there are a number of important questions to ask. Do you have access to local test centres, having a supply of testing kits available for night shift workers, ability to manage on-site testing and / or access to a virtual nurse? If the answer to any of those questions is ‘no’, let’s talk.

Taking affirmative action

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Gallagher’s Organisational Wellbeing Consulting team has been supporting organisations of all shapes and sizes, and is working within the Government guidelines to implement effective workplace testing protocols to minimise the spread of Covid-19 and safely manage the return of employees who have tested positive.

As employees return to the workplace employers not introducing robust risk management processes face the prospect of significant business interruption and reputational damage as a result of Covid workplace transmission. In addition, asymptomatic cases together with positive test outcomes to factor in to the mix of challenges facing business that continue to operate in a physical workplace environment.

In response, employers are increasingly turning to effective testing protocols to safely manage workplaces, outbreaks and those returning to the workplace following a positive test result.
