Gallagher Premiership rugby players and Leicester Tigers stars Tom Youngs, Jasper Wiese and Freddie Steward took part in a mental health workshop to show their support for local environmental consultancy Ensafe as part of Gallagher’s campaign to champion the resilience of UK organisations during the pandemic.
Tackling Tomorrow Together

Last week, the trio of Leicester Tigers players tackled the issue of mental health head-on, taking part in an educational workshop provided by local business Ensafe to raise awareness of how the Coronavirus pandemic has affected the mental health of UK workers.

Through its partnership with Premiership Rugby and its ‘Tackling Tomorrow Together’ initiative, Gallagher is bringing to life and promoting the stories of six UK businesses and a regional children’s charity that have shown great resilience and a pioneering spirit during the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the businesses is the East Midlands headquartered firm Ensafe, an independent environmental and compliance services provider that has over 25 years’ experience. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Ensafe found ways to stay operational, providing essential services to clients including the multiple construction companies it supports, enabling them in turn to keep operating throughout successive lockdowns.

Ensafe’s team of over 200 fully trained professionals across the UK and Republic of Ireland deliver a range of health and safety services for different companies, including a 2-day mental health first aid course. As part of ‘Tackling Tomorrow Together’ Ensafe has been paired with Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints, offering the business new promotional opportunities.

Tigers players Tom Youngs, Jasper Wiese, and Freddie Steward took part in in a mental health training session, where they deliberated on the stigma that surrounds mental health as well as utilising tools such as their ‘Wellbeing Continuum’ to identify and measure mental welfare.

After the session, the players, along with Ensafe employees, took on a virtual quiz, testing their rugby expertise as well as their knowledge on Mental Health First Aid, where the players and employees alike excelled.

Recognised by Gallagher for its resilience, Ensafe is being rewarded with a host of opportunities to promote the business through the power of the Gallagher Premiership, helping them to reach new audiences.

Tackling Tomorrow Together

Pam Fricker, Ensafe’s Head of Training & Development, an Ensafe spokesperson, said:

“There has been a lot of discussion about the impact on mental health from the pandemic and successive lockdowns – people struggling with the isolation of working from home, key workers who’ve had to remain on the front line and parents needing to juggle home-schooling – which has affected individuals and businesses alike.

“Professional rugby players are no different; they too have had to deal with enforced isolation especially when games were first postponed but they had to still find ways alone to stay fit, focused and motivated. As a business that strives to convey the importance of good employee mental health every day, to have the players from Leicester Tigers take part in our workshop, and engage with us on this pressing topic, provided a fresh, valuable insight for us all.

“With the backing of Gallagher, and this resilience-focused initiative, we hope to be delivering mental health first aid to an ever greater number of UK firms.”

As part of the ‘Tackling Tomorrow Together’ campaign, Ensafe and its specialist services will be promoted on match day at Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints, when COVID allows, with the local business benefiting from increased exposure off the back of the in-stadia advertising. Employees from the business will also have the chance to attend a game to support Tom, Jasper and Freddie from the stands, whilst hosting clients.

In addition to the rugby-related package, Gallagher will continue to offer specialist broking advice and support to Ensafe.
