Nathan is taking over from former Saracens player, Hugh Vyvyan who is moving into a different Business Development Director role, with a remit of developing Gallagher’s affinity relationships, including partnerships with Natwest, Lloyds Banking Group and RSM.
Former Sales Sharks’ star and British Lions lock, Nathan played 77 times for Scotland and forged an excellent career at club level, including winning both European and domestic titles. After more than 15 years of playing top class rugby, he has recently enjoyed a successful coaching career in Europe and the UK.
Nathan will report to Simon Waine, Regional Managing Director for the South in Gallagher’s UK Retail division and in his new role he will be responsible for continuing to expand Gallagher’s client base amongst rugby clubs, and other businesses involved in the sport.
Commenting on his new role, Nathan, said: “Gallagher has a fantastic reputation in the world of rugby as a result of its programme of grassroots support for community rugby plus its title sponsorship of Premiership Rugby. The opportunity to join a global business with a real focus on clients, where I could use my sporting knowledge, was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I look forward to working with the team to further develop our offering.”
Simon, added: “We are delighted to welcome Nathan to Gallagher. With his extensive background in rugby he is a welcome addition to our talented team. Gallagher has existing relationships with a large number of clubs, both those at Premiership Rugby level, and also local clubs across the UK. I will be working with Nathan, to build on this existing presence and help provide further clubs and related business with risk management and insurance advice.”
