The Gallagher Market Update for January 2018 summarises the changes in lines and tenors available from the commercial political risk insurers since our last report in July 2017. The summary reflects the outcome of reinsurance negotiations where renewals have been completed in the intervening period, as well as the arrival of any new insurers who have gained approval for their business plans and obtained sufficient capital allocations. Changes to credit agencies’ rating of the insurers are also highlighted.

In addition, we provide a summary of the trends in the development of market capacity highlighting changes since the last reinsurance renewals. We also provide a global geopolitical outlook, highlighting certain political issues on the agenda in 2018 that we feel have the potential to affect our clients’ businesses, and a summary of the movement of talent throughout the marketplace and any changes in internal management.

Gallagher’s Structured Credit and Political risk semi-annual Market Update is created to inform our clients, both existing and prospective, of the capacity available in the market. Thus an insurance buyer is more empowered to consider the ability of the market to support a potential investment or transaction, subject of course to specific appetite.
