Phil Gaunce
Chief Commercial Officer
Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Gallagher in Canada, Phil oversees the real estate, information technology, and mergers and acquisition (M&A) strategies. His role as the leader of the M&A team is crucial in driving Gallagher's growth across Canada. He drives growth by nurturing merger opportunities, enhancing the brand's presence in the industry and attracting merger partners who align with Gallagher's culture.
Phil's journey in the insurance industry began in 1990 as a commercial producer and was appointed CEO of Bell and Grant Insurance in 1995. He held this position until the company was acquired by Gallagher in 2014. Prior to venturing into insurance, Phil worked as an Audit Manager at KPMG.
In addition to his professional achievements, Phil has actively contributed to various organizations. He served on the Board of Governors at Saint Mary's University from 2011 to 2014 and held board memberships at the IWK Health Centre and the IWK Foundation from 2001 to 2012. Since 2006, Phil has been a board member and audit committee member for the RediShred Capital Corp. Furthermore, Phil has been involved with the Halifax Moosehead Hockey Club since its inception in 1994 and currently serves on its Board of Directors.
Phil graduated from St. Mary's University in Halifax, where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He furthered his professional qualifications by earning the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in 1986 and the Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation in 1993. Phil is also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia and holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation under the Canadian Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants.
Outside of work, Phil cherishes quality time with his family. He enjoys skiing with his wife and three sons, eagerly anticipating the day when his young grandsons will join them on the slopes. Phil also finds solace at his family cottage, engaging in activities such as golfing, boating, and bicycling.
