Mary Turan
Senior Consultant
Mary Turan is a senior consultant at Gallagher Benefit Services (Canada) Group Inc. Throughout her career of more than 30 years, Mary has developed her expertise in the area of strategic human resource leadership through her background as a consultant and corporate practitioner. She offers clients a wide range of human resource services in the specialized areas of compensation, job evaluation and pay equity matters.
As a job evaluation and compensation specialist, Mary has extensive job-evaluation-related experience in a variety of sectors. As a subject matter expert, she has planned, conducted and delivered job evaluation projects for purposes of meeting pay equity legislation requirements in both the private and public sectors, including working with several universities and school boards. Mary has assisted client organizations with developing, testing and implementing job evaluation systems. She has helped numerous committees understand the principles of job evaluation and build consensus. Mary has successfully worked with many unions on job evaluation initiatives over the years, including working with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA), United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), Unifor, United Steelworkers (USW) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU). As a trusted advisor, Mary has been instrumental in assisting several client organizations to resolve and close files at Ontario's Pay Equity Commission.
Mary has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Waterloo. She's a Certified Management Consultant® (CMC) and Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL). Mary also holds a Certificate of Achievement in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Windsor.
Mary is a member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CAMC) and the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA).
Mary has spoken at the annual HRPA conference, Canadian WorldatWork conference, Centre for Labour Management Relations, Massachusetts Pay Equity conference and various association conferences and webinars over the years. Mary has also been published in the HR Professional Magazine and the Ontario Municipal Human Resources Association (OMHRA) newsletter. Most recently, Mary was asked to participate on the federal government's Pay Equity Technical Advisory Group on matters relating to the development of pay equity tools and methods.
