Jonathan Foster

Jonathan oversees the Canadian Compensation Practice, helping clients face all aspects of their compensation strategy with confidence. Working with clients to interlink their compensation design and organizational strategy, his focus is on implementing strong policies that motivate and reward high productivity, thus optimizing performance and minimizing risk.
Jonathan is an accomplished total rewards professional with over a decade of executive compensation experience, advising public and private sector clients across multiple industries and differentiated by scale and complexity. Jonathan has a passion for compensation design and governance, combined with the drive to build trusted relationships. He works collaboratively with clients through a simple and transparent process determining the proper alignment between compensation design and organizational strategy to motivate and reward the right behaviour.
Over the course of his career, Jonathan has focused on the implementation of strong and defensible policies and practices that not only uphold the board's fiduciary duty to shareholders, but further drive business results and deliver value to all stakeholders. His work in devising innovative executive compensation solutions mitigates client risk and educates key stakeholders on sophisticated compensation systems.
Jonathan has served on the board of the Beth Tikvah Foundation of Hamilton, a foundation providing specialized accommodations for adults with developmental disabilities. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Western University and a master of business administration (MBA) from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. Jonathan holds both the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) and the Human Resources and Compensation Committee Certified (H.R.C.C.C.) designations from The Directors College, a joint venture of McMaster University and The Conference Board of Canada.
